How rooms, hosts and scores work in Mini G
A reference guide to understand rooms, roles and points, game by game.
Rooms
A room is the space in which a group plays together. It has a 4-letter code and can hold up to 8 people. You enter with the code, with the invitation link or from the list of open public rooms. An idle room closes after about 2 hours of inactivity.
Everything that matters for the match (game state, scores, the correct answer) is decided by the server, not by the player's device: this keeps matches fair for everyone.
The host
Whoever creates the room is its host. They can choose the game (the others can vote), adjust the settings, start, pause and remove a participant. Settings change from game to game: number of rounds, timings, difficulty, content language.
If the host leaves the room for good, the role passes to the first connected player left; if nobody can take over, the room closes.
How points are earned
Each game has its own rules; here are the main ones:
- Classic Quiz: 100 points for every correct answer, no speed bonus; in teams the average of the members counts.
- Copycat King: 100 points to the first to complete the text, 80 to the second, 60 to the third, with a minimum of 25.
- Draw and Guess: whoever guesses gets 100 points if first, 80 if second and so on (minimum 25); the drawer gets 25 for every player who guesses.
- Impostor: an undiscovered impostor gets 100 points; if discovered, the 100 points are split among those who voted for them.
- Flash Memory: 100 points for each symbol in the right place, another 100 if the sequence is perfect, plus a speed bonus.
- Invisible Hunt: from 1000 points if you find the animal right away down to 100 if you find it at the last moment.
- Fill the Gap: the sentence with the most likes gives 1 point to its author; the first to reach the set score wins.
- Aim Arena, Color Match and Eagle Eye: points depend on precision; Bomb Relay has no points, the last one standing wins.
Two practical examples
In a Classic Quiz match of 10 questions, a player who answers 7 correctly gets 700 points: speed does not count, so there is no point in answering in a rush.
In a Draw and Guess match with four players, when one draws, the first to guess gets 100 points, the second 80 and the third 60. The drawer gets 25 points for each of the three who guessed, that is 75 points.
Pauses, exits and re-entries
Unexpected things can happen during a match, and Mini G's rules try not to spoil the evening:
- If a player leaves by mistake, they can come back from the same browser tab: during a match the server keeps their seat for 30 seconds.
- If the host loses the connection during a match, the match is paused; if they do not return within 15 seconds the room closes.
- If the host leaves for good, the role passes to the first connected player left.
- The host can remove a disruptive participant; the removed person cannot re-enter the same room for 15 minutes.
- Anyone who joins when a match has already started watches it as a spectator and plays from the next match.
The room ranking
Besides each game's points, the room keeps an overall ranking that accumulates the results of all the matches played. It is the simplest way to know who is winning the evening.
Frenzy Leaderboards
The Frenzy difficulty of Aim Arena, Color Match and Flash Memory saves the best scores. They can be seen from the «Leaderboards» panel, available from a room lobby, by week, month and all time, with the top 5 scores per game and period. More details on the saved data are in the Privacy page.
Frequently asked questions
Why does answering fast in Classic Quiz not earn more points?
Because every correct answer is worth 100 points, with no speed bonus: you have all the time the host chose to think, and you can change your answer until everyone has answered or time runs out.
How is the winner of the evening decided?
The room keeps an overall ranking that accumulates the results of all the matches played. The group decides whether to stop or play a rematch.
Can the host play?
Yes. Whoever creates the room can play like everyone else or simply run the match.
