Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about Mini G. For the rules of the games go to How to play.
Getting started
Do I have to sign up?
No. There are no accounts: just choose a name (24 characters at most) and join. The game is free.
How do I create a room?
From the home page choose a name and create the room: you become its host. The room has a 4-letter code. A host can choose to only run the game or to play as well.
How do I join a room?
With the 4-letter code, with the invite link (it looks like minig.app/room/CODE, and you copy it with the “Copy invite” button inside the room) or from the list of open public rooms, if there are any.
How many people can be in a room?
Up to 8. Each game has its own minimum: some can be played alone, others need 2 or 3 players or more. You can find them on the How to play page.
Is my name remembered?
Yes: the last name you used is saved on your device to prefill the field next time. It is deleted by clearing the site data.
Can I change the language?
The interface is available in Italian and English: the interface language is a personal choice and you change it with the flag. For games with texts (for example quiz, Impostor, Draw and Guess, Bomb Relay, Fill the Gap) the content language is chosen by the host for the whole room.
Rooms and players
What does the host do?
The host chooses the game (the other players can vote for which one to play), sets up the match, starts it, can pause it and can remove a participant from the room. The host is just another player, not a collaborator of the site operator.
Can I watch a game that already started?
Yes: if a game is already in progress you can join as a spectator and follow it.
How does reading aloud work?
Fill the Gap can read the sentences aloud: it is a host option and it is off by default. Anyone can turn down or mute the game audio on their own device, from the audio panel at the top.
How do I zoom into a drawing?
In the drawing games you can zoom with the mouse wheel; to move around, hold the wheel (or the Space key) and drag. On touch screens pinch with two fingers.
How do I save the Broken Telephone stories?
At the end of the game the browser's print dialog opens: choose “Save as PDF” as the destination (on iPhone: Share → Print).
Common problems
I left by mistake or lost my connection: can I get back in?
Usually yes. If you refresh the page or come back in the same tab, the site tries to put you back in the same room. During a game your seat is held for 30 seconds for players and 15 seconds for the host; meanwhile the game goes on. After that the exit becomes final and you will have to rejoin with the code, if the room is still open.
What happens if the host leaves?
If the host leaves for good, the role passes to the first connected player left; if there is no candidate the room closes. If the host only loses the connection during a game, the game is paused and, if they do not come back within 15 seconds, the room closes.
How long does a room stay open?
A room with no activity closes after about 2 hours. When a room closes, the room's games and leaderboards are lost.
I can't create a room.
The site limits how many rooms are open at the same time and how often they are created: in that case you see the message “Couldn't create the room. Try again.” Wait a moment and try again, or join an existing room.
A room from the list won't open.
It may have been closed, be full or have become private in the meantime: try another room from the updated list.
Does the site work on phones and computers?
Mini G is a website: you use it with your browser, on a computer, phone or tablet, with nothing to install. For a smooth experience use a recent version of your browser.
A player is bothering me. What can I do?
The host can remove a participant from the room; anyone removed cannot rejoin the same room for a period of time. There is no “report” button in the game: to report content, a name or bad behavior write to info@minig.app giving, if you can, the room code, the name used and when it happened.
Data, privacy and cookies
What is stored on my device?
The site does not set its own cookies. It stores in the browser some technical and preference information (theme, language, volumes, the last name used, data to rejoin the room after a page refresh). The full list is in the Privacy and Cookie Policy, section 6.
What does the server collect?
Your game name and the game's contents stay in the server's memory while the room is open and are not saved in the database; the exception is the names saved together with scores of the Frenzy mode (Aim Arena, Color Match, Flash Memory); the old Aim Arena scores have been deleted. For statistics, technical data without names and without contents is saved. Details, retention periods and your rights are in the Privacy and Cookie Policy.
Can my name appear on a leaderboard?
Yes, if you play on the Frenzy difficulty (Aim Arena, Color Match, Flash Memory): the "Leaderboards" screen, from the lobby menu, shows anyone the top 5 scores of each game, for the week, the month and all time (the same name can appear more than once), with the name chosen by the player and the score. A minimal automatic filter replaces names containing offensive terms with "Anonymous player", but it does not promise to stop them all and it does not apply to names in a room or to chat. To ask for a score to be removed or to report a name, write to info@minig.app. Details in the Privacy and Cookie Policy.
How do I manage cookie consent?
From the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of the home page. For details see the Privacy and Cookie Policy.
Is Mini G suitable for minors?
Mini G is not aimed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect personal data of children under 14. Anyone under 18 should use the site under adult supervision. See the Terms of Service and the Privacy and Cookie Policy.
