- 1 to 8 players (you can play alone).
- Length
- 8 to 16 questions, with 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds to answer each one.
Overview
Classic Quiz is the most traditional game in the collection: a question appears, four answers show up, and you have a few seconds to pick the right one. The whole room sees the same question at the same moment, so the contest is about knowledge and a cool head, not luck.
Questions cover different categories and three difficulty levels. It suits an evening with friends as well as a mixed-age group, because the host can raise or lower the difficulty without touching anything else.
How a round goes
- The host picks the number of questions, the answer time, the difficulty and the category (or a mix of all of them), then starts the match.
- Each question appears with four answers, reshuffled for every question, so the position of an answer tells you nothing.
- Choose an answer in time. You can change your mind until everyone has answered or the time runs out.
- The correct answer is revealed together with who answered what. Each correct answer is worth 100 points; a wrong or missing answer is worth 0.
- When the questions are over, the ranking decides the winner. In team mode a team's score is the average of its members' scores.
Tips to win
- There is no speed bonus: use all the time you need to think, because answering early earns nothing extra.
- If you do not know the answer, mentally discard the two least likely options; two choices are left and your odds of guessing go up.
- You can fix your choice until the question closes: even if a friend next to you seems very sure, reread the options before you switch.
- The last questions may form a final round with the ranking hidden: play each one as if it decides everything, because you will not see how you are doing.
For the host: settings and tips
- With a mixed group start from medium difficulty and a mix of categories; raise the difficulty if people get bored and lower it in the next match if they get discouraged.
- The number of questions goes from 8 to 16 and the answer time is 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds: 15 or 20 seconds is a good balance between pace and thinking.
- Team mode (2 to 8 teams, assigned by the host) helps when players are at very different levels: results even out in the average.
- Remember to pick the content language: it is the host's choice and it is separate from the interface language.
